Exercise - Who Which Where | Relative Clauses

Who is used when the relative pronoun refers to people:

We saw some students who were playing in the park.

She is a person who I admire.

Which is used when the relative pronoun refers to things or objects:

It is an idea which all of us like.

We loved the present which they gave us.

The relative adverb where follows a noun that describes a place. In a relative clause, it replaces preposition + which (in which, at which …).

This is the house where my grandparents live. (= in which my grandparents live.)

I will show you the room where they store the books. (= in which they store the books.)

Note:

When you use where, you do not need to add a preposition of place.

This is the house where my father was born. (NOT: … where my father was born in.)
