Exercise - Adjectives and Adverbs 6
Level A2
Complete each sentence with the adjective or adverb form of the word in brackets.
Grammar rules
Adjectives give us more information about nouns – that is, people, things, places. Adjectives are often used together with nouns.
Clara is a beautiful girl.
An adjective also follows a form of the verb to be (is, were, will be …).
Clara is beautiful. (The adjective beautiful tells us more about Clara.)
Adverbs of manner describe how (= in what way) an action takes place or something happens. Adverbs often refer to the verb in the sentence. In most cases, you form the adverb by adding the ending -ly to the adjective.
Clara sings beautifully. (The adverb beautifully does not describe Clara herself, but the way in which she sings.)
