Write the correct form of the verbs in brackets. Use the simple present.
Grammar rules
In all the sentences in this exercise, the third-person singular form (he/she/it form) is required. Note the rules for forming this verb form:
• For most verbs, -s is added.
write → writes
• For verbs ending in -ch, -s, -sh and -x, the ending -es is added.
touch → touches
• For verbs ending in a consonant (b, c, d, f …) and -y, the he/she/it form is formed with the ending -ies.
carry → carries
BUT: play → plays (Vowel + y)
• Note the exceptions:
go → goes
do → does
have → has
• The verb to be is the only verb in the simple present tense that has three different forms.
