Make negative sentences in the simple present tense using the verbs in brackets in the first part of the exercise. Do not use short forms!
Order the words and phrases to form sentences in the second part.
Grammar rules
You form the negative in the simple present using the auxiliary verb do:
do/does + not + infinitive (base form) of the verb
I do not want to go to the lake. (Short form: I don´t want …)
The book does not belong to the teacher. (Short form: The book doesn´t belong …)
They do not play tennis in the afternoon. (Short form: They don´t play …)
With the verbs be and have got, the auxiliary verb do is not needed.
They are not from Belgium. (Short form: They aren´t … or They´re not …)
Clara has not got a new mobile phone. (Short form: Clara hasn´t got …)
Note:
If you use have without got, the negative form is formed with the auxiliary verb do.
Clara does not have a new mobile phone. (Short form: Clara doesn´t have …)
